Why Use Liquid Screed?

Liquid, flow or pumped screed is an excellent choice for a variety of projects thanks to the following benefits:

  • Thinner than traditional screed

  • Offers a higher level of insulation

  • Faster to lay and dry

  • Creates strong and durable flooring

  • Can be used with underfloor heating

  • Low shrinkage

  • Minimal risk of cracking

As a thin screed, it is ideal for laying new flooring on top of an existing floor because it will have minimal impact on floor height and overall headroom. The liquid consistency also means the screed is self-levelling, providing an effective solution for levelling uneven floors. Furthermore, using a pump to lay the screed means we can easily apply it to rooms in any location and on any floor.

Thermally Efficient Screed

Liquid screed is an excellent option for use with underfloor heating because it is a thermally efficient screed. This is because it easily flows into any gaps to eliminate voids and is a great thermal conductor, increasing the effectiveness of underfloor heating systems.

Laying Pumped Screed

The experienced groundworkers at Seels CB provide a complete screeding service in Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas, which includes:

  • Using lasers to work out the depth of screed needed

  • Setting up tripods 1 metre apart to the height of what the top of the screed will be

  • Setting the pump up and connecting individual hoses to get the screed to where it's needed

  • Doing a slump test to make sure screed is the right consistency – if not, we add more water

  • Pumping screed through hoses until level with the top of the tripods

  • Tamping the screed to remove air

Liquid screed is not a wearing surface and should be finished with a floor covering, such as tiles, carpet or laminate flooring. As a thin screed, it allows you to choose your preferred flooring without having to worry about the floor height being raised too far.

Our groundworkers are happy to advise on the requirements of each project.
