Piling is used to transfer loads from a structure to the ground, helping support it. The process involves placing columns into the ground to transmit loads to a lower level of subsoil. In areas with weak soil, piles are crucial to distribute the weight of a structure evenly and give it a sturdy base.
Mini piling is a variation of piling that uses a narrower diameter. We either screw or drill a hollow steel shaft into the ground before pouring in grout or concrete, forming a small-diameter pile.
Depending on the job, Seels CB can create shallow or deep foundations.
As well as the piles being smaller, the machine used to install them is also more compact. This means mini piles can be used on sites with tight spaces or limited headroom. As such, they are an ideal solution for extensions and other domestic projects where a standard piling rig would not fit.
Furthermore, this form of piling causes minimal vibration and disturbance. This can make it suitable for groundworkers to use on sites near other buildings/structures and on sites with environmental concerns.
